Support Worker

The Position

What you will do:

Kurri Kurri Community Services is one of the most experienced and successful community service providers in the Newcastle and Hunter Region. We have a proud tradition of providing care services that promote individual preference and choice. We work with our older people and people with a disability to maximise their independence to stay living in their own homes for as long as they wish.

We have several vacancies for support workers in the Cessnock, Maitland & Newcastle LGAs.

KKCS is looking for committed people to join our Care Team to provide a range of services including personal care, domestic assistance, transport and shopping.

You will:

  • Have good communication skills
  • Be able to deliver consumer directed care in an enabling approach
  • respect individual choices
  • be polite, well-presented and reliable
  • have good time management skills
  • be able to work independently
  • use safe work practices
  • follow the organisation's policies and procedures

What you need to have:

  • Minimum Certificate 111 in Aged & Community Care or Disability (or equivalent)
  • Experience providing care in a community setting
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current drivers licence
  • Reliable, registered & comprehensively insured motor vehicle
  • Have flexibility to travel between the LGAs mentioned.
  • Physically able to provide a range of personal care & domestic tasks
  • Be available outside of normal business hours, including weekends and public holidays
  • A satisfactory National Police check
  • Effective English literacy skills
  • Basic computer / email skills
