Kurri Kurri Gymnastics Club has been operating at the Community Centre for over 20 years. Our aim is to include everyone who want to participate. We promote a fun, positive environment and offer a broad range of activities that will interest and challenge children of all ages and standards. Our particiapants learn skills that are transferable to other sports and keep and healthy at the same time!

Our coaches

Our Head Coach is qualified to teach Intermediate Gymnastics for All, Intermediate Women’s Gymnastics and Advanced Kindergym and has Certificate III in disability sports coaching.

The club currently has two other intermediate ‘Gymnastics for All’ coaches and all coaches who hold an intermediate accreditation have First Aid certificates.

KKCS’s gymnastics club is now accredited to run Launch Pad (a Gymnastics Australia initiative). The LaunchPad initiative covers fundamental movement activities for children up to 12 years in three age groups: KinderGym 0-5; GymFun 6-8: GymSkills 9-12. KKCC hosts a range of gymnastic classes during school terms. Please use ages mentioned below as a guide only.


Kindergym is on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30-10:30am, and is appropriate for walking toddlers and pre-schoolers. This program is specially designed for children under 5 years to help develop the fundamental movement skills needed for an active and healthy life. The classes allow the caregiver and child to explore their boundaries within a safe and fun learning environment and offer opportunities to improve gross motor skills, coordination and positive thinking. (Please note parents/carers are encouraged to be active members of the class).


Tumbling is on Mondays and offers opportunities to learn floor, double mini and mini-trampoline skills, such as cartwheels, forward and backward rolls, round-offs and on double mini learning basic jumps then progressing to more challenging skills.

Junior Tumbling

Junior Tumbling is open for all children aged 4 to 7 years and is held on Mondays from 3.30pm-4.30pm. This class is great for keeping little ones fit while building the foundation for future gym adventures by targeting tumbling basics; handstands, forward rolls, and cartwheels as well as basic trampolining skills.

Senior Tumbling

Senior Tumbling is for children aged 5 to 10 years and is held on Mondays 4.30pm to 6.00pm. This class aims to perfect tumbling foundation skills in order to extend participants skills in the safest way possible. Everyone is welcome no matter experience level.

Teen Tumbling

Teen Tumbling (10 to 18 years) is held on Mondays from 6-8.00pm. This class caters for the older gymnast with basic-advanced tumbling skills. Our coaches aim to support each member of the class at their own level, and so, it is suitable for even those with little or no gym experience.

Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG)

We currently offer Women’s Artistic Gymnastics in levels 1-5. Levels classes are held on Tuesdays from 4:00-8.00pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm. Children are invited by coaches to join our training squad. For more information, please contact out Head Coach.


Our Rec program is designed to incorporate as many aspects of gymnastics as possible. In these classes participants are able to try elements of WAG (beam, floor, vault, uneven bars), MAG (rings, pommel, parallel bars), rhythmic gymnastics and have fun learning in a social environment.

Pre-School Recreation

Classes for pre-schoolers are is on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3-4pm. This class is a stepping stone between Kindergym and Junior Rec and is only available to children in the year before starting school. The class introduces a more structured environment while still focusing on fun, physical learning.

Junior Recreation

Junior Rec (5 to 8 years) is on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4-5pm and is for both boys and girls who attend school and who are 8 years old or younger. No previous experience is needed, though the class is also suitable to those who are continuing on from another class.

Senior Recreation

Senior Rec (9-12 years) is on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5-6pm. This class is suitable to both new students and those returning from a previous year and build upon the skills learnt in the junior rec program.

Boys Only

This class teaches ‘FreeG’ which is a Gymnastics Australia initiative to safely develop the free movement and aerial manoeuvre skills used in parkour in addition to tumbling and tramp skills. This fast moving class is for boys aged 6-14 years and held on Wednesdays from 6-7:30pm.

Strength & Conditioning

Strength & Conditioning and Performance gymnastics will be a combined class in 2017

Strength & Conditioning is held on Thursdays from 6-7.30pm for Levels students, teenagers and adults of any fitness level. The class is fluid with the structure changing weekly to target whole body strength and fitness in a fun and friendly environment.

Performance gymnastics

Performance gymnastics is held on Thursday from 6-7.30pm for students who would like to learn new skills and to be part of a display team which will represent the club at community events. Gymnasts of all abilities are welcome to join this group.

What to Wear

Summer: Shorts and T-shirts. For safety: please do not wear buttons, belts or shoes. Loose fitting clothing is also inappropriate.

Winter: Shorts and T-Shirts, plus a tracksuit or other warm clothes for traveling to and from the gym. Firm fitting socks are also recommended.

Long hair tied back. Only stud earrings.

Please ensure you bring a bottle of water to your gym lesson.
