At KKCS we acknowledge that  raising children is extremely rewarding but  can provide challenges along the way. From our very formative years in the early 80’s KKCS has always looked to provide local families with support services that help them manage their time and give their children value-for-money experiences to help them increase their knowledge,  build skills and increase self confidence.

KKCS has a rich history of supporting local youth. Our youth programs include the Kurri Youth Support Program (previously Kurri Youth Centre) which caters to young people in the 12-18 age range and the Cessnock Community and Youth Development Project that has a focus on young people aged 12-25 years and the services who work with them.

Food Co-Operative

Kurri Food Cooperative has been operating since September 2006. As part of Kurri Kurri Community Services, the Cooperative provides members in the community with the opportunity to obtain affordable household products and groceries they may not otherwise be able to buy.

Men’s Shed

Kurri Community Men’s Shed officially opened in May 2012 and was funded by the Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation. It currently has more than 50 members who work on various projects throughout the community. The shed is designed to forge community partnerships and provide retired and other local men with the opportunity to make a positive contribution to the community.

Kurri Kurri Community Services also host Computer classes for Seniors, a Gentle Aerobics class and a Creative Craft session. A timetable for these is listed below (a Lace Guild also meets on the last Thursday of every month).

Office Services

Kurri Kurri Community Services has several rooms available for hire. Various sizes and formats are available from an intimate meeting room for four or five people to larger rooms that can comfortably seat 150 people in theatre style.  Rooms are available on an hourly, half day or full day basis. You are welcome to make an appointment to come and see the rooms.

Community Bus

Kurri Kurri Community Bus Service is a transport service with two modified buses. Kurri Kurri Community Services is responsible for the co-ordination of both buses in this transport service and both are accessible to eligible client groups and community groups.
